Daughters of Naomi, Alpha Chapter, is a program designed to teach young ladies between the ages of 9 and 18 valuable life lessons and coping mechanisms.   The resources of this program are to teach young ladies how to deal with tragedies in their lives, the intimate details of growing into womanhood, interpersonal communication, professional development skills sets, social graces and analytical reasoning skills.  The program participants will be divided by age, the Blue group (9-11), Purple (12-14), Gold (15-17) and Red (18). In April of each year there will be a “rites of passage” ceremony for each participant in the Red group.

This program is designed to (1) create a condition of unity, sisterhood, and personal excellence for girls who would not be exposed to the Arts and high culture without a comprehensive mechanism that actually works! (2) Encourage community involvement, investment in the youth culture and a union of new and displaced members of the evacuated communities with existing residents.  It is evident by the increased number of social ills (teenage pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases, and abortions) that plague our community that a program such as Daughter of Naomi is long overdue.

There is an overwhelming need for a program such as this in the Baton Rouge community.  A mentor is defined as a TRUSTED counselor or guide.  Mentoring young ladies will help the transition smoothly into young adulthood .  It is evident by the increased number of social ills that plague our community that a program such as Daughter of Naomi is long overdue.  Teenage pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases, and abortions given to younger girls through the various stages of development.

The challenge to be addressed by the project is the restoration of girls emotionally, spiritually, and personally.  The vast majority of these girls feel lost.  Furthermore, they feel that they have nothing, not even their own identity. Many of these girls are members of financially.

Program highlights include learning the Social Graces.  Specifically, how to speak properly, eat at a five star restaurant.
